Secure Data Centre
Wanstor’s hosted desktop infrastructure uses state of the art technologies to deliver 99.99% availability. Housed within a secure LEVEL-3 data centre on HP’s Fibre Channel SAN’s the hosted desktop system is protected by Cisco Firewalls, Trend Micro Anti-Virus software and backed up on a daily basis to ensure the security of all data. All systems are managed by Wanstor’s in-house team of experts and we also provide helpdesk services which include equipment monitoring and onsite support.
Highly available storage environment
Wanstor utilizes state-of-the-art SAN technology to store, deploy and manage its hosted desktop service. The storage environment uses the highest levels of redundancy amongst the equipment to ensure the reliability and security of the service. In addition to RAID technologies, Wanstor utilizes a combination of snapshots, snap-clones and backups to protect and secure customer data.
State-of-the-art monitoring systems
Our monitoring systems are based around the industry standard Simple Network Management Protocol and we are currently rolling out our second generation management system. The second generation reporting system which is based around Microsoft Operations Manager includes synthetic transaction logging and user perspective performance monitoring. These systems allow us to report on a second-by-second basis on all aspects of systems performance and user experience.
Accessing the hosted desktop
The hosted desktop service can be accessed through a number of different methods. A desktop computer, laptop or terminal can all be used. The choice can be made to help avoid capital outlay, or lower office based power consumption. The key thing to remember is that as your desktop is no longer tied to any one physical device you can access it from anywhere, at work or at home.
