About Greenwich
More than any other riverside town in London, the SE9 area taking in Greenwich is inextricably linked with Britain's maritime history; and - since Greenwich represents the exact 'zero point' of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) - of time itself.
Greenwich was host to a series of Naval edifices throughout its history, including the Royal Naval Hospital for Sailors, later to become the Royal Naval College.
