The phone lines are going. Make sure service doesn’t go with them.
The All-IP switch-off could affect much more than your reception phone. Wanstor helps you find those hidden dependencies and build a practical migration plan around your sites, trading hours and busiest periods.
Find what could disrupt the guest experience before it does
Your phones may already be digital. But what about the equipment working quietly behind the scenes?
- Payment and EPOS terminals
- Hotel and restaurant phone systems
- Lift emergency communications
- Fire and intruder alarm signalling
- Door entry and access control
- CCTV and Monitoring equipment
- Remote building and plant monitoring
Complete the form and we’ll review your estate, highlight the areas that need investigation and help you understand your next step.

What we’ll check
Payments and EPOS
We’ll help identify terminals and systems that may still rely on analogue connectivity, reducing the risk of payment disruption during service.
Guest and emergency communications
We’ll review reception lines, guest phones, lift communications and other calling services that could be affected.
Site-by-site dependencies
Restaurants, hotels, bars and head-office locations rarely have identical setups. We’ll assess the risks across each type of site.
Migration timing
We’ll help you plan work around opening hours, booking peaks, events and operational change windows.
Connectivity resilience
Because digital services rely on local connectivity and power, we’ll consider whether critical services need appropriate backup arrangements
Hidden dependency check
We'll full scope out your estate to see exactly what depends on legacy connections.
What is changing?
Analogue is on its way out. All-IP is taking over.
The traditional phone network is being replaced by digital services that run over internet connectivity. The deadline is the same across the UK, but the operational risk varies from venue to venue.
A modern hotel may already use cloud telephony and IP payments. An older restaurant, listed property or recently acquired site could still have multiple legacy connections sitting in the background.
That means the real question isn’t “Are our phones digital?” It’s “What else is still connected?”
PSTN, ISDN and related legacy services are being withdrawn on 31 January 2027
Your phones may be digital. Is everything else?
When legacy services are withdrawn, a few other things may become exposed or stop working altogether.
Payment terminals
Some older card terminals and EPOS connections may still use traditional lines. If they are overlooked, the result could be queues, manual workarounds and lost revenue.
Lift emergency phones
Guest and service lifts may use dedicated analogue connections for emergency calls.
Fire and security alarms
Monitored alarms may depend on legacy diallers to send alerts to an alarm receiving centre.
Door entry and access
Staff entrances, gates, intercoms and access-control systems may contain older line-based components.
Guest and reception phones
Main numbers, hunt groups, guest-room phones or older switchboards may still have links to PSTN or ISDN services.
Building monitoring
Boilers, refrigeration, plant equipment or other monitoring systems may use older dial-out connections.
How Wanstor helps
Before you replace anything, find out what actually needs replacing.
Wanstor’s existing hospitality work includes network environments supporting EPOS, corporate connectivity and guest Wi-Fi, giving the messaging a credible wider-IT context rather than treating each analogue line in isolation
Here’s how we’ll work on it with you:
| Step One | Step Two | Step Three | Step Four |
|---|---|---|---|
| Review | Assess |
Plan |
Migrate |
| Map locations, service lines and equipment all across the estate. |
Identify which dependencies could affect payments, guest service, safety or trading continuity. | Build a migration route around operating hours, venue priorities and supplier lead times. | Move affected services with support through testing, transition and phased deployment. |
Your guests won’t care which network failed. They’ll remember the disruption.
In hospitality, technology problems become customer-experience problems very quickly.
A failed payment connection holds up service. Meanwhile, a reception-line issue can affect bookings, while a lift-phone or alarm problem can become a safety concern. And across a multi-site estate, one missed legacy line can turn into a repeated operational headache.
That’s why planning early matters. It gives you time to identify what’s connected, speak to the relevant equipment suppliers and schedule migration outside critical trading periods.
Why Wanstor?
Because your phone provider may know the line. We understand what the venue needs to keep running.
- Hospitality IT experience: We’ve been helping huge hospitality brands with IT for years. So we understand the relationship between connectivity, EPOS, guest Wi-Fi and venue operations.
- Estate-wide discovery: We have the expertise to support across a single venue, mixed estate or multi-site group.
- Operationally aware planning: We know trading hours are vital, that is why your migration is built around trading hours and change windows.
- Wider IT context: We’re a one-stop-shop for IT, which is why we consider connectivity, network, telephony and individual devices together.
- Interim options: Where permanent delivery takes longer, we can provide appropriate temporary connectivity to keep your operations going.
Wider IT context
Wanstor understands the wider IT environment, not just the individual line being replaced.
Hidden-dependency discovery
Support identifying overlooked systems before they become operational issues.
Interim connectivity options
Where a permanent solution needs more time, temporary connectivity may help reduce risk.
Frequently Asked Questions
What systems could be affected by All IP Switch Off?
It’s not just your phones. Alarm and monitoring systems, lift emergency lines, payment terminals and door-entry systems may also rely on old analogue connections. If you don’t identify and migrate them to the right replacement, the switch-off could disrupt these critical services.
Can migration be planned outside trading hours?
Yes. The approach can be built around your venue operations, supplier availability and acceptable change windows. Therefore, providing minimal disruption to your service.
We already use digital phones. Do we still need to check?
Yes. Digital phones don’t necessarily mean everything else is ready. Other services, sites or equipment may still rely on analogue connections, including alarms, lifts, payments and monitoring systems. That’s why it’s worth checking the wider business rather than assuming the phone migration has covered everything.
What happens after we submit the form?
A Wanstor specialist will review the details you provide and confirm the most relevant next step within a few hours. There’s no obligation, and the aim is to understand what you’re concerned about and whether further assessment or migration support is needed.
Can Wanstor help if we have left All IP migration late?
Yes. Leaving it late doesn’t mean you’ve run out of options. Openreach will be applying EVAC lines to those who migrated too late. However, this is a costly and temporary solution. Wanstor can help identify what needs attention and accelerate the migration process. Where a permanent solution needs more time, interim options such as mobile or satellite connectivity can also be considered to help keep operations moving.
How long does All IP migration usually take?
There isn’t one migration timeline that fits every organisation. Ultimately, the timeline depends on what still relies on legacy services and the complexity of your sites and infrastructure. That’s why identifying dependencies early matters. However, we have rolled out migration services to customers within 2–4 weeks.
Can Wanstor support multiple restaurants or hotels?
Yes. Wanstor works across multi-site environments and can migrate locations in stages rather than treating every site the same. First, we assess each site individually to identify dependencies. From there, we build the rollout around the needs of your wider estate. What’s more, our experience includes estate-wide discovery, site surveys and phased, site-by-site network rollouts.
What happens to existing lines or providers?
You don’t necessarily need to change everything at once. Instead, we’ll first identify which existing services need to migrate and which can remain. We’ll also check whether any contractual or notice-period requirements apply before you make changes.
The worst time to discover a legacy line is during a busy service.
Find out what your venues still depend on and build a plan before the network makes the decision for you.
