Business connectivity FAQs
What are business connectivity services?
Business connectivity services connect your people, locations, applications, cloud platforms and devices. They can include business internet, leased lines, SD-WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, cloud connectivity, secure access, resilience and network monitoring.
What is SD-WAN?
SD-WAN intelligently manages traffic across network connections. It can help improve resilience, application performance and control, particularly for organisations operating across multiple locations. Wanstor’s SD-WAN capability includes application-aware routing and quality of service for services such as Teams and voice.
What’s the difference between SD-WAN and SASE?
SD-WAN primarily manages and optimises network connectivity. SASE brings networking together with cloud-delivered security capabilities. Which approach is appropriate depends on your users, locations, applications, security requirements and current environment.
Why does connectivity matter for Microsoft 365 and cloud applications?
Cloud services still depend on the network connecting your people to them. Problems with connectivity, Wi-Fi or network performance can therefore show up as slow applications, poor Teams calls and frustrated employees.
Does every business need a leased line?
No. The right connectivity depends on the importance of the location, bandwidth requirements, resilience needs, available services and the impact an outage would have on your organisation. Wanstor supports access options including DIA, leased lines, FTTP and SoGEA.
How do I know if my network needs upgrading?
Warning signs can include recurring outages, unreliable Wi-Fi, poor application performance, Teams issues, capacity constraints, ageing infrastructure or limited visibility. But one of the biggest warning signs is much simpler: your organisation has changed significantly, but your network hasn’t.
